DESCRIPTION:
The Rolex Explorer was associated with the 1953 Sir Edmund Hilary expedition to the top of Everest but it was reported to be worn by Sherpa Tenzing, whilst Sir Edmund wore a Smiths Everest. The 'Smiths Everest' subsequently appeared in several variations around 1960 and this is such a model. They are now rare and very collectable fuelled also by a general interest in English made watches, particularly Smiths models.

This example features a gold plated case in immaculate order, no wear through of the plated finish, pristine stainless steel back. The dial is simply mint, pristine hands with the original red filled pointer. Brand new acrylic crystal fitted along with a new gold filled crown. Calibre 10104E fully serviced and ready for it's next expedition. A very collectable vintage piece in the best condition possible.
