DESCRIPTION:
Very rare Elgin Deck watch used by the Hydrographic Department in the Ministry of Defence during the war years. This watch dates to 1942 and comes complete with it's hard wood box with glass display top in mint condtion. The accompanying paperwork denotes Issue from the Chronometer section of the Hydrographic Department, Ministry of Defence, issued from Herstmonceux Castle in Hailsham Sussex. The MOD black plaque denotes Serial no. 1888 and Stores ref. H.S. 527-3637. The watch itself is in mint order with stainless steel case and enamel dial. The case unscrews back and front to to reveal the stunning quality movement manually wound movement, signed B.W, Raymond, which is running very well and keeping excelllent time. Watch measures 51mm in diameter.
