We are Madaboutwatches!

" I'd like to say I've been into watches for years but my obsession with watches is quite a recent event.

I share the obsession with my son, Robin, and it was his idea for starting a website that got us going. I started only a few years ago with an old Roamer and then a Seiko and then… It soon got to be an obsession with me spending a £1000 A MONTH. After taking early retirement, with Robin’s skill in web design, I maintained my buying obsession with the sales from this site. It soon became a success because we both plough back virtually all turnover into more watches, giving one of the widest choices of mechanical watches on the internet. It is a hobby gone mad but needs to be run on a business basis although we do try and be a friendly site.

The result is Madaboutwatches.co.uk, an online shop for good quality secondhand mechanical watches.

I don’t think there is another site on the internet, where it is possible to buy  £10 watch that has been cleaned/polished, presented, photographed, with good or new strap and properly tested and thoroughly inspected. This is not done for profit, as there is none. We do it to give a wide range and for  the love of old watches, no matter how humble or obscure their makers. The site offers the widest range and one of the largest collections available for sale with anything from a Timex to a Rolex.

A family affair

Since 15th February 2010 Madaboutwatches.co.uk is now owned by 'Armstrong & Co Ltd' with husband and wife team Robin and Linda Armstrong running the site, who also run PoshTime.co.uk. Rod Armstrong (Robin's father) is still actively involved in the business but has retired from the sales side handing over the reigns to his son and daughter in law.
